Embracing God's Boundaries

"But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you have come to obey from your heart the pattern of teaching that has now claimed your allegiance."

-Romans 6:17

Do you ever feel tired, overwhelmed, and burnt out?

Yeah, me too.

Although COVID was a horrible stressor in many ways, it did offer a long, forced collective pause. In the stillness of lockdowns and shutdowns, we had the opportunity to reconnect with the things that really matter in life, like investing in meaningful relationships, forging deeper connections, and allowing ourselves to admire the simple joys of life. Yet, as the world slowly began to spin again, many of us found ourselves slipping back into hustle and neglecting the pauses that allow us to invest in what really matters.

We've forgotten the peace that comes from living within God's boundaries.

Operating outside of God's design will always lead to feelings of heaviness, complexity, and exhaustion. But when we walk in alignment with His will, we experience a lightness of being, a clarity of purpose, and an energizing sense of freedom.

My own journey to joy began three years ago when I found myself overwhelmed, disheveled, and disconnected from the world around me. It was there, in the midst of my burnout, that God invited me to rediscover joy by practicing rhythms of rest. And one of my favorite rest practices is to get outside and admire the beauty all around me!

So I ask you, dear friend, when was the last time you stopped to admire something beautiful?

In the midst of life's chaos, beauty is all around us, whispering, nudging us towards a deeper connection with our Creator. As you reflect on your own journey, I encourage you to embrace God's boundaries for true freedom. For it's within His loving embrace that we find rest for our weary souls, peace for our troubled hearts, and joy for our restless spirits.

Restful Rhythm Tip:

Take a few moments each day to intentionally seek out moments of beauty in your surroundings. Whether it's a vibrant sunset, a delicate flower, or a child's laughter, let these glimpses of God's creation remind you of His presence and love.

Journaling Question:

How can you realign your life with God's design and embrace the boundaries He has set for your well-being? Take some time to reflect on areas where you may be operating outside of His will and consider steps you can take to realign your priorities with His.
